The City of Canals
It is the most central of the western cities, between the mountains and the Quath river. At one time it was on the top of the mountains, but an earthquake during the Psychic Wars dropped it from the mountain into the lake at the bottom. A quarter of the population died, but the rest survived. They rebuilt. Second stories became the first floor in a city whose streets were canals. During the early days of the Republic, it was the sight of the Republics most dire threat thus far. It was the center of a corrupt and virulent drug trade. The Governor was wrapped up in a drug war with a wererat mafia, an order of Paladins, the local militia, and a Death Cult dedicated to the Great and Wondrous Slaughter Wyrm. It ended with the corruption under control, and a quarter of the city needing to be rebuilt.
Under the rule of the Regulators, Del Lago has become a forgotten little piece of history. It is a sleepy little city. With the destruction of Castle Krag, Del Lago has taken up the slack. A steady stream of raw materials flows down from the mountains into the city where they are forged. They are then forged into the goods for the world and sent outwards on rail. The Lake is no longer pristine, but there is no plague anymore. The water filtration system is beyond excellence, so no one worries about what to drink, just don't eat the fish.
There are rumors that the Great and Wonderous Slaughter Wyrm is awake and enjoys the pollution, but only the Death Cults believe it. Everyone else knows that if the Great and Wonderous Slaughter Wyrm were to awaken, they would all be dead.
