Blackflame' Report VI

To the hands of Commander Ven Brecht

I must express my deepest disagreement with your decision! How is it possible that Knight Vrax has been reinstated as Lord -Celestant despite his many failures in a degraded position! On our final quest we made our way to the gardens of Morda, the great funeral complex, where reports of disturbed graves, endless bell-beating and strange green lights were coming from. We easily detected the evil machinations of the skaven.

The burial ground was large and when we arrived at the site, we found that the ratmen were innumerable and spread everywhere. So we had to split up. Knight Vrax led the northern group consisting of his personal retinue and the vanguard riders, while I was put in charge of the sacrosanct and ruination warriors. In the middle of the cemetery, a sort of dark ritual was being prepared by a rat seer on a wheeled-bell structure. I tried with all my might to cut off his incantation and so did my mages, but to no avail. I issued an order for The Silent Ones to go forth to banish the evil ritual, but their path was blocked by giant rat mutants armed with infernal instruments of destruction. Vrax's riders had the sorcerer within their reach and could have stormed his rear. But Vrax held them off. Alone with his retinue, he made his way to a small crypt , far from the mausoleum where the main battle was taking place, and began to cut through the flood of skaven rabble. Yes, they slaughtered countless of them, and yes they managed to salvage some small artifact from the age of myths, the nature of which he refused to reveal. But that doesn't change the fact that his laxity allowed the enemy sorcerer to escape and complete the desecrating ritual!

My lord, I'm really outraged that you rewarded him for this battle by restoring him to his old lord-celestant status, and on top of that you provided him with an honorary escort of dragon guards and sent him his own dracoth mount!

According to scouting reports, something nefarious is going on in the western regions of Ashenshroom Volcano. We'll head there. Along the way, I will keep a close eye on Vrax's every move and keep you informed.

With undying devotion
