The citizens of the Realm have built the highest, best lit cities of the House, as such is it only natural that the term “underworld” was born in these cities to indicate the lower areas that are usually overrun by unpleasant, seedy businesses.
Under Duke Küchenschrank’s mansion, beneath the Shelves of Glasburg, down the stairs through the Drawers, in the belly of the Cupboard where the rays from the Great Window can hardly reach, there you’ll find the lowest of all underworlds: Unter town.
These days, even the Royal Gendarmerie has learned to look the other way. In Unter, you’ll find no respect for the authority of the Tsarina nor the Duke von Glasburg. Here everything has a price, and every littling is on the Triad’s payroll.
It’s quite simple. Everyone knows them, everyone knows they’re criminals, but nobody has the power, far less the courage, to hold them accountable for their crimes.
People call them “the Triad” because there are three of them and, combined, they control all unlawful activities and crime gangs of the Cupboard.
