A religious sect built a colony ship, then took it to Mercury.

The goal was to create a self-sufficient colony from technology created on both Earth and Mars.

The colony would be heard from occasionally and some space craft would appear.

Low orbit stations are positioned for scientific research.

Earth announces plan to create floating islands suitable for living within Venus' atmosphere.

The Martian independence movement began to grow.

Rocket Scientists successfully modified a fusion reactor that could generate nearly limitless thrust without the need for enormous stores of fuel.

The engine came out of one of the AI-assisted research labs on Mars, and the flight was from Deimos to Luna and took a mere 2 days compared to the traditional 3+ days (~90hrs)!

The Federation of Earth was quick to announce what amazing work their scientists had done despite the fact that much of the work had occurred on Mars. This lack of acknowledgement ratcheted Martian separatist movements into a high gear as they felt that this technology should belong to Mars not given back to "mother Earth".

Earth suppresses a rebellion on Luna.

Martian separatist ideals had increased already growing tensions on Luna, pushing them to violent protest and the brink of rebellion.

Mars declared itself a sovereign planetary nation, which sparked a major war with the Earth Sphere forces.

Earth launched a cyberattack against Martian AI research bases. This crippled major progress on Artificial Intelligence and created hesitancy on Mars over any sort of planet-wide network beyond video.

Mars retaliated to the cyberattack with precision strikes from stealth-plated, rail-guns ships, which disabled a large percentage of Earth's nuclear arsenal.

War reshaped Mars into a militarized, nationalistic society.

Focused on well-trained armed forces and a sense of collectivism.
