The Gaj are a herbivorous species of mammal that are native to Adhyria. They're mostly known for their ivory tusks, which are very valuable, and because of their size. Gaj are usually 10-15 feet tall and 22-26 feet long. While not outright aggressive, due to the extreme amount of hunting, wild Gaj typically skewer anyone who comes too close, or stomps them flat. Gaj are social animals and travel in large numbers, making it difficult for hunters to take out lone Gaj (which typically drives up ivory prices and attracts new hunters). There have been attempts to domesticate Gaj, which have mildly succeeded, but any attempt to make a farm to harvest Gaj tusks typically ends in failure, possibly a very bloody failure.
Domesticated Gaj are usually used as work animals, lugging around heavy loads, or are used in the army as war elephants, which use their size, speed, and mass to break through enemy formations and instill terror, or be used as living siege machines.
