Wrenin Accord

In the 400s, the Kingdom of Falglor was undergoing a bit of a political crisis. While Parliament and the Royal Authority had been cordial ever since the dissolution of the aristocracy, there had always been a bit of an underlying tension between the two parties. The powers of Parliament, dictated in the same act that dissolved the noble class, were vaguely stated, and not calibrated for modern day issues. While Parliament and the throne were often able to collaborate against a common enemy, like the Kingdom of Adhyria or The Yunnaiteddo Federation or The Order, with the relative lack of war and conflict, along with rising economic downturn, things were beginning to be a bit tense between the two powers.

This tension came to a head after the death of King William the Second, and the ascension of his son, King Henry the Fourth. Henry was distrustful of Parliament at best, and outright wanted its dissolution at worst. By contrast, Parliament saw Henry as a threat to their authority, and feared that he would rally the army and remove Parliament by force. Many feared that a civil war was imminent, and that Falglor would be torn apart by the conflict.

A power struggle would break out, with each attempting to gather influence and the support of the people, in order to project their power over the other. Each began to veto bills and acts proposed by the other, causing the political process of Falglor to screech to a halt and the economic downturn to become even worse. It seemed that civil war would break out soon, and both sides were bracing for the impact. However, Henry made a bunch of very bad moves. He had neglected most of his duties and ruler in order to seek conflict with Parliament, something that most people disapproved of, and replaced his cabinet with a bunch of royalist yes-men, most of whom were unable to accomplish their tasks. His attempts to accrue favor with the people was ill-received, and the army from which he planned to seize power was very much against him.

On the 10th of Renatus, Henry made a rallying cry to his supporters in the populace and in the military to take his side and support his authority in the government, and ordered local army legions to march on Wrenin to overthrow Parliament. Unfortunately for Henry, the army refused, and he was just left floating there, dead in the water, his attempt to seize power nipped in the bud. WIth Henry's weakness proved, Parliament called to impeach him, and succeeded, removing Henry from the throne, and appointing his much more agreeable brother, Thomas, as king.

The new king and Parliament convened for multiple days in Wrenin, working out a piece of legislation that would satisfy both sides. Thus, on the 48th of Libertatem, the same day The Alammar Empire was overthrown, in a move that was supposed to be symbolic, the Wrenin Accord was born, that clearly established the authority of Parliament, and of the Royal Crown. This was seen as an end of the conflict between Parliament and the throne, until Anivasi Novissime was appointed centuries later.
