Song of Screams

Disaster
?

It is not known what year the Song of Screams first took place. In addition, it is unknown how or why it came to be in existence. However, on the fateful day that the Song transpired on, the race of Elves would have their history written in blood and stone.

In the beginning, all Elves were alike in the eyes of Silvanus. When the Song took root in the minds of all who held Elf blood, they were guided and destined to head North into the Greenwood forest. Many took this calling to heart, and developed a cult-like mentality. Most traveled willingly, some did not. Even fewer however, resisted the calling to the woods. These Elves, grew apart from the likes of their kin. They were cast out of the grace of Silvanus, and were forced to take shelter from her light, or risk disintegrating into nothing. Many say that the Drow grew madness from the acts of eating each other during the first age of their beginnings. Others say they are not filled with madness, but rather jealousy and hatred for the surface dwellers. Regardless, the Elves who disregarded the call to the woods found comfort in the dangers of the Underdark.

Those that succumbed to the will of the Song, found themselves mindlessly settling and living in Greenwood. Here is where the foundation of modern day Elves would find their hold. The High Elves were birthed for the purpose of making perfect leaders, mathematicians, politicians, and arcanists. The Wood Elves were laborers who were naturally gifted hunters, craftsman, farmers, and woodsmen. Together, the two sub races of Elves worked in perfect harmony to establish a profound Elven society.

Today, the Song of Screams still holds meaning to Elves in Elose. Drow are killed on sight and in some places, even hunted. The harmony between the High and Wood Elves still holds true, and will most likely lie unaltered in the decades to come.
