The Nestorian Heretics

Mystery Cult

The Nestorian Heretics are dedicated to the service of an ancient, imprisoned god. They work in tandem with the mages of Heresiarchy legacy and often defer to their leadership. This organization can trace its roots back to the Osage Native American tribe and believe that the imprisoned god they serve is the same Wakonta that the Osage saw as the force empowering creation. Some, claiming supernatural abilities to peer even further back into time, speak of a lost, advanced civilization that the Heresiarchy and Nestorians descend from.

Those Nestorians who work in the modern era often find themselves desperately searching for a way to free their imprisoned creator god. They see the fallen reality crumbling into deeper pits of corruption, both of character and in actual, physical toxicity, and seek to free their god so that it may restore the world. Knowledge of how to free their god is lost to the Nestorians, pushing them to work closely with esoteric information brokers and to attempt to heal the world as best they can in the time being.

• Initiate Nestorians are expected to be able to operate on their own, and cannot expect the backing of a large organization (the Nestorian Heretics are few in number). Nestorians are taught to squeeze every ounce of useful work out of their contacts and allies. Take the Fixer merit.

•• Nestorians that have proved themselves useful to their ancient god find themselves more in tune with nature. Take the Feral Whispers discipline. Replace Animalism with Nestorian membership dots.

••• Experienced Nestorians push beyond stewardship over their fellow animals and achieve mastery over flora. Gain three dots in the Influence numen with the focus "plants."

•••• Nestorians can ascend beyond the limitations of flesh that was crafted while their god was imprisoned. These elders establish a mental connection to all Heresiarchs and Nestorians, even able to dredge up knowledge from those long dead. Gain three dots in the Library merit with the attached skill occult. There is no physical library associated with the merit, rather the Nestorian taps accumulated knowledge of the Heretics.

••••• Favored Nestorian elders receive a guardian from their caged god, meant to protect them from the jailers attempting to stop those trying to free it. Gain the four dot Familiar merit. This familiar manifests as a physical cryptid, rather than a ephemeral entity.

In addition to the membership benefits described above, all Heretics receive an aura from their hidden lord. These aruras are similar to the Nimbus of mages, or the Mantles seen on changelings. Any supernatural power geared to reveal hidden things will also reveal the aura. Auras are unique to heretics, but do not leave traces as the Nimbus does.

Each membership dot is associated with the following aura benefit.

• Gain bonus dice equal to your character’s Nestorian membership dots to mundane rolls to seduce or attract someone.

•• Gain bonus dice equal to your character’s Nestorian membership dots when taking mundane actions that encourage or bring about over-indulgence.

••• Gain bonus dice equal to your character’s Nestorian membership dots during mundane teamwork actions to help an ally achieve her goals.

•••• Regain one bonus willpower per night of rest if you are resting in nature, or if you are over-indulging in a vice (not necessarily the character's Vice) before sleep.

••••• Spend points of Willpower (Or supernatural power currency such as Mana/Vitae) to heal wounds of those around you as follows:

Can effect a number of entities equal to supernatural power stat, or Nestorian membership dots if mortal.

Can effect entities within sensory range.

One Willpower heals two Bashing wounds.

One Willpower heals one Lethal wound.

Two Willpower heal one Aggravated wound.
