Kelanni began his career with the royal family at a young age, when he lied about his age to pledge to the Guard. He doesn't speak of his life before the Guard, preferring the present over the past.
He had been promoted up the ranks with surprising speed, all of his superior officers mentioning his steadfast dedication to the Guard and the Royal Family.
Finally, he was promoted to junior officer of the Queen and Kings personal Guard. He struck up a friendship with the youngest member of the family, Neried. Soon after her Choice, the family took a trip to tour the kingdom.
During the tour, at Neried's request, the carriages rose, so that they were bathed in the dappled sunlight. As they paused for the press to document the scene, a surface dweller whaling boat passed above, its prey lashed to the sides of the boat, dripping blood. In its wake came the sharks, drawn by the scent.
Driven into a frenzy, the school of sharks turned on the beings, and began to feast.
The guard stood strong, but they fell quickly. King Wellescale protected his family to the best of his ability, but he too was overwhelmed. Queen Perle shoved her last remaining child into Kelanni's arms, and begged him to flee, to save Neried.
Utilizing the Cephalatae ink cloud, he grabbed the Princess and dove as quickly as he could.
Along with a few members of the Press Corp, they returned to Arvandor, and brought the sad news.
Over the next few months of turmoil, he did his best to support the new queen. He found himself promoted again to the Queen's personal guard, and eventually Head of the Guard.
After the scandalous arrival of a human in their midst, he found himself as Neried's confidant. After her marriage to Aldmer, he found himself promoted one last time, to the Queen's Advisor.
