Spawned second,Sunscale was forever trying to catch up with his twin, Murkfin. The tadpole crawled second, walked second, and speech did not come easily to, but none of that ever seemed to concern Sunscale. But by the third year, even their doting parents had to except that Sunscale would always walk. In their mixed blood, they lacked the magic to shift their legs to fins.
Sunscale was a bright child, excelling in reading and mathematics. Unlike Murkfin, who had no real love for book learning, Sunscale devoured all the materials his tutors put in front of them.
They were the frequent target of their twin's bullying, and eventually their lessons were separated.
As they grew, they began to receive training in the warriors arts as well. This was harder for Sunscale, and they struggled to keep up, not seeing the need to be versed in this as well.
It was not until the twins reached their 15th year that their mother shared the story of the death of her family, highlighting the bravery of her advisor and personal guard Kelanni that Sunscale began to see the reason for the training. They doubled their efforts, and slowly began to progress.
It became easier after his Choice, as his body began to naturally become more muscular and fluid. He took the name Thanliss.
He devoted himself to the ideals of Arvandor, and became one of her strongest warriors, as long as the fight was held on land. In the water, he lacked the ability to propel or orient himself effectively.
Driven to prove himself, he rose in the guard, proving himself worthy to guard the palace and its inhabitants.
With his winning disposition, lithe form and mop of golden hair, he is a favorite subject for the press, both in Arvandor and in the Realms. Boats filled with young people frequent the waters around the palace, hoping for a glimpse of the young royal.
Thanliss has shown no interest in any of the attempts to curry his favor, preferring to settle down with a book of newly delivered sonnets over going out on the town.
