The Instant Ladder is a wondrous item.
Description
A small wooden case about 1 foot long and 4 inches both wide and tall. Two iron metal hinges are located on the back side, and hook and loop are attached to the front.
Effects
Removing the hook from the loop as a bonus action will cause the case to immediately spring open and orient itself perpendicular to the strongest force of gravity as a ladder up to 60 feet high telescopes upwards. The ladder will cease growth should it encounter any resistance on the way up, sustaining the height up to that point. The ladder itself is made of a bamboo-like wood, and can support weight up to 3 tons in total. While the ladder is telescoping it is completely rigid and cannot be moved, but it may be freely manipulated and carried once its growth completes. It will remain the same height, however.
The ladder may be closed as an action, requiring a DC 15 Strength skill check in order to force the case at the bottom of the ladder shut. This will pull the entirety of the ladder back into the case.
