The Floating Leaf is a major religion of Unavaranu that practices across Hazeron, though it is most active in northern and eastern Atavar and the continent of Gessaria. The Floating Leaf believes that Unavaranu wishes to provide knowledge to the world in an act of benevolence, and devoted members of the religion will both actively seek new information and offer it to the populace. Like many other religions of Unavaranu, they believe that Unavaranu is responsible for balancing the world, but do not place faith in any sort of grand, final design, like in the beliefs of the Silver Eye.
Beliefs
The Floating Leaf does not have a central doctrine to their belief, and instead, the core ideals of the religion are generally passed through spoken word. This is in coordination with the idea of a evolution of knowledge that the Floating Leaf believes in, a concept that separates it from the strict record-keepers of the Librarians of Elath. The basic ideas of the Floating Leaf are as follows:
- Un establishes balance through an "invisible hand" of benevolence, formed by her love of humanity and history.
- Her followers have a duty to both collect and distribute information to the world, as this eases the goddess' burden.
- Information is subject to change, and nothing is immutable. Change must be embraced, as it is part of Un's balance.
In comparison to other religions of Unavaranu, the Floating Leaf is much more freeform with less restrictive rules. Holy texts and doctrines from other religions found by "messengers" of the goddess are not discounted, but instead are just considered small parts of a whole. Most followers of the Floating Leaf will refer to the 22 Edicts of Balance from the Silver Eye, the Sacrosanct Fulmination of the Librarians of Elath, and other such literature as divine, though their interpretations of the texts may differ.
Despite believing that the evolution of knowledge is inevitable, the Floating Leaf, as with most religions of Unavaranu, see the outright destruction of information as a grave sin.
