A relic of the old sideromancers of Uresant, before their practice was banned following their coup attempt against the king. As they scattered across the Atavar, so did the secrets of their potent magic, ending up in the hands of both the clueless and the sinister.
The Iron Commander is a magical +1 staff and spell focus that requires attunement to use. It is capable of using stored power to influence metal, and even shape it into new forms.
Description
A tall, sinister-looking dark steel staff with a straight, angular design. The staff in covered in patterned, riveted rectangular protrusions, culminating in a set of sharp flanges surrounding a cloudy, round crystal at its head.
Effects
This staff can be wielded as a magic quarterstaff that grants a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. While holding it, you get a +1 bonus to spell attack rolls.
The staff has 5 charges for the following properties. The staff regains 1d4+1 charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the staff becomes a non-magical quarterstaff. On a 20, it regains all its charges.
Turn Metal. As a reaction, you may expend one charge to impose disadvantage on an attacking creature that you can see, as long as there is a body of metal on their person.
Twist. As an action on your turn, you may expend three charges to cast the spell Fabricate, but only with metals. You may ignore the size restriction of the spell, allowing you to craft a Large or smaller object (contained within a 10-foot cube, or eight connected 5-foot cubes).
