The Bottle Demon, otherwise known as Silly, is a demon that was previously bound inside Grognock that tormented him with terrible visions every night. The demon claims he was bound to Grognock by Tarisi.
Description
The demon has ashy-reddish skin, and seems capable of contorting its outward appearance at will. In the brief time Grognock witnessed his full form, it stood to the ceiling of the ritual room it was in. Its appendages were long, bony and lanky, but its torso was disturbingly obese. In its bottle, the demon often presses different part of its body up to the glass, such as its eyes, ears, and mouth.
The demon is vengeful and duplicitous. It attempted to tempt the Peas with various promises in exchange for its release, but no one was swayed.
Skills and Abilities
The demon, which was housed inside Grognock for many months, was able to influence his dreams and sever his connection to Fectovarano.
While controlling Father Syllis, the demon appeared capable of influencing creatures to enter demonic glyphs, which it would then use to corrupt and control them. The demon was also capable of whispering strange incantations that wracked the minds of those that listened.
History
The demon was allegedly placed inside Grognock during his travels around Atavar as "punishment" by Tarisi. It accompanied Grognock during his journey north, constantly showing him the visions of his burning home.
Recent
Throughout Grognock's travels of Gessaria, the demon kept itself hidden away, preventing him from contacting the gods. It was finally revealed to him through a surprise exorcism performed by Father Syllis and the priests at the Fectern Temple of Hymathel. The demon was removed through Grognock's mouth and sealed into a bottle.
When the Peas returned to question the demon, it attempted to convince them to open the bottle, but to no avail.
As the Peas went to assist in sealing away Tarisi, the Bottle Demon managed to corrupt the Fectern Temple, including Father Syllis, and much of the surrounding area in the Nevald District. The party led a crusade against the demon, eventually defeating Syllis and shoving the demon into a Bag of Holding, but not before it managed to corrupt Leadbelly, Phaelnah, and Seamus somewhat.
The Bottle Demon was brought to the top of Mount Sanar to the temple of Godsreach, where Leadbelly gave up his precious Silver Rope to the god Onyr, who manifested in his statue, growing to great size, releasing the demon from is bottle and crushing it into oblivion, leaving not a single trace of it in existence.
