Endelshine 29th, 951
- The Peas engaged in battle with the strange, spider-like humanoids
- The strange beasts attacked using their long, sharp legs, spitting a black, paralytic bile and attempting to devour weakened targets
- The enghasts managed to do some damage to the party, but were slowly routed by the group, despite Yoxxel getting swallowed up by one
- Tyerjon created a large dome of mist, confusing the Rain Knight
- With nearly half the creatures killed, suddenly a large cage of bone and rotten flesh sprang from the ground, trapping the group within
- Emerging from behind a tree, the party spotted Mardyth alongside a creepy looking dark-robed man.
- Mardyth began to shoot at the party from the other side of the bone wall, dealing some heavy damage to Leadbelly
- The necromancer brought the fallen enghasts back to undeath, and began casting hexes on the group
- Upon seeing the necromantic magic, Phaelnah turned a majority of the undead away with her holy magic
- Seamus, as Murica, shot her bow at Mardyth and tethered to him using Veravine
- Journey launched a particularly vicious Crystal Evocation against Mardyth, earning his ire
- Mardyth began attacking Journey specifically as the remaining undead converged on her per the necromancer’s orders
- Phaelnah used her Nightseeker’s Blessing to attack the necromancer through the wall, immediately killing him
- Wander used his Misty Step to make his way out of the bone cage to route Mardyth as the wicked rogue broke off Murica’s tether
- Journey was overwhelmed and swallowed by an enghast, who began to run from the party
- Near death, Journey was freed by Tyerjon’s efforts, and healed by Phaelnah
- Mardyth ran from the party, bleeding flaming golden ichor
- He was pursued by Wander, Murica and Yoxxel, though Yoxxel quickly became fatigued after her Haste spell gives out
- Wander and Murica attacked Mardyth in their chase, but the rogue didn’t slow
- Wander then cast Hideous Laughter, and by some devilish chance, Mardyth apparently found it funny, and because immobilized by laughter
- Using Leadbelly’s magic rope that Wander found on Mardyth, he tied the thief up, and he cackled all the way back to the rest of the group.
- Back together with a dead necromancer and a restrained Mardyth, the group decided on what to do
- With the party split on what action to take, the group put the murderer’s fate to a vote, with Ven’laen breaking the tie to have him taken to the city and incarcerated.
- Leadbelly investigated the corpse of the necromancer, finding a quarterstaff, a silver locket with a faded portrait inside, a small vial of bubbling green liquid, 4 small bags of various powders, a large bag of 242 gold, 5 silver, and 45 copper, as well as a spellbook in elvish and a bag of holding.
- Contained within the bag of holding: enough bones for 10 corpses, a (mundane) ceremonial knife, 2 images of some entities, 3 small vials of congealed blood, 8 small clay pots, a freshly severed elven head, and a snake suspended in amber.
- Ven’laen buried the elven head, and the bones.
- Phaelnah investigated the necromantic tome, learning the name of the necromancer, Fezoan. She divined what spells he knew, but could not quite decipher some of the rituals that appear to be of Fezoan’s own design, likely necromantic in nature.
- Wander went to visit Mardyth, who had been put down in the Roomy Chest, and attempted to wean some information off of him, but he was mostly unresponsive to questioning
- Mardyth attempted to coerce Wander into killing him, but he refrained
- He let Wander know that his joke wasn’t funny
- After using her dark powers, Phaelnah was prematurely attacked by the Nightblight on the night of the 29th, losing a bit of herself to it.
Endelshine 30th, 951
- The party continued their journey to Hymathel, making it to a small farming town, and staying in their barn for the night.
Paladirzt 1st, 951
- Waking up to a raging storm, the group elected to wait it out in the barn.
- The Rain Knight walked out into the rain and stared at the sky.
- The party had some talks, and Phaelnah talked to a plant.
- Wander attempted to identify some of the necromancer’s items, which were mostly mundane. He also tried to identify Mardyth’s dagger, but got trapped in a mental maze in the process. He spent the rest of his day trying to puzzle his way through it.
- Mardyth began to refuse food and drink.
- Leadbelly lit some of his special lake powder on fire, which flared up into a powerful blue flame for a time.
Paladirzt 2nd, 951
- The storm continued, and the group elected to stay another night.
- Vyloxen sent Murica another message, asking her if she was safe, extremely exasperated. Murica barely communicated this to the party.
- Wander spent more time getting lost in the mental dagger maze.
Paladirzt 3rd-4th, 951
- With a clear day, the group finally set off to Hymathel again, traveling over 3 days
- Phaelnah experienced another incursion by the Nightblight, this time on the 4th.
Paladirzt 5th, 951
- By the night of the 5th, the party finally approached Hymathel, and saw a large, dark crimson beacon of light emanating from the city.
- Finding many displaced citizens camping outside the city walls, Ven’laen visited a military tent to get some information, and learned that the city was under siege by a demonic incursion, from the inside.
- Apparently, two of the Sky Serpent wizards had fallen to the demonic corruption originating from the Fectern Temple where Grognock had left the Bottle Demon weeks ago.
- Accompanying Ven’laen to the spires of the Council of Dreamers Headquarters, they snuck into a meeting with the Greenspeaker Yutier Venas’vel, alongside Dreamer Ryla Mulaweyrn and the various remaining tower wizards.
- Yutier advocated the use of force to wipe out the demonic presence before it grew too great, and expressed a vague interest in using the party to do so.
- Ryla and the other wizards wished to handle things more precisely, wishing to strike at key points in the demon territory to weaken them, lowering civilian casualties
- Yutier, frustrated that the meetings were going nowhere, left the room with his attendants in a huff
- The group finally caught up with Deowyn Centhos, who offered congratulations on a job well done, but seemed more caught up in the matters at hand
- Ryla and the wizards had formulated a plan to attack the corrupted wizards, Weydelar Tallroot, a master of wood magic, and Nevalyda Phoslero, a water magic specialist. Weydelar was using his magic to tear apart the walls erected by the Obsidian Guard in order to lead demons through to the greater city area, while Nevalyda was corrupting the streams of water and sending storms of corrupting blood rain over the barriers.
- The group were introduced to the other tower wizards and their specialties:
- Beylna Hastaren of the West (short, somewhat square, curt) specialized in seals and wards, and was working to keep the demons contained to the district.
- Vyloxen Shurilas of the East (medium height, slender, regal) specialized in divinations and surveillance, and was to scout out what the demons were planning, but he apparently was failing at that task.
- Pheselyn Jylan of the Northwest (older, experience, mutters to himself) specialized in spatial magic, and was attempting to close of portals from forming outside the barriers
- Mervernil Savelo of the North (not present) specialized in war magics, and was at the front lines fighting off demons that had created holes in the walls and barriers.
- Ryla wished to lead a strike force into the district, but Pheselyn’s spatial magic could only teleport nine people into the center. Ryla allowed the Peas to join, and Vyloxen volunteered to redeem himself.
- The Peas suggested bringing in Yoxxel as the ninth member of the force, but Ryla took a very protective stance against this. Instead, the group convinced the Rain Knight to join, with Phaelnah promising to put in a good word for him with the Nightseeker if he did a good job.
- The group decided to split, with the Peas going after Nevalyda, and the others pursuing Weydelar
- Unsure of what to do with Mardyth during this perilous time, the party decided to keep him within the roomy chest, taking him with them.
- The group elected to take a rest before heading out the next morning
Paladirzt 6th, 951
- The party, alongside Ryla, Vyloxen, and the Rain Knight, entered the portal to the Nevald District.
