Demonology 101

Paladirzt 6^th, 951

• The Peas, alongside the Rain Knight, Ryla Mulaweyrn, and Vyloxen Shurilas, entered the Fectern Temple of Hymathel in order to put an end to the machinations of the Bottle Demon.
  • The party split into two groups to attack the temple, noticing numerous shadowy figures engaging in a ritual in the dimly lit interior
  • The groups burst in simultaneously, engaging multiple priests corrupted by the demonic power as well as Father Syllis, who had the Bottle Demon on a pendant around his neck
  • As the group fought back the priests, Ryla headed to the temple gates in order to hold back a horde of demons that were summoned by the Bottle Demon
  • A few of the Peas directly engaged Father Syllis, taking heavy physical and psychic damage from the strange mace of skulls he wielded
    • Tyerjon used Frosthold to conjure a mist around Syllis, but the Bottle Demon still managed to keep sight of the dragonborn through the haze
    • Wander attacked Syllis, but was grabbed by the fallen priest; Tyerjon managed to free him, in turn earning the priest’s ire
    • The Rain Knight cut through multiple priests but became lost in Tyerjon’s fog
  • The strange, otherworldly powers of the Bottle Demon enticed Leadbelly, Seamus, and Phaelnah into strange runes on the ground, which began to corrupt them in various ways
    • Seamus grew horns, two more arms and a mouth on the back of his neck
    • Phaelnah grew two extra ears, her arms became elongated, and her hands became large and bony
    • Leadbelly grew horns, two extra eyes, wings, goat legs, hooves, and sharp teeth, growing so demonic that he was placed under the Bottle Demon’s thrall
  • After Father Syllis sacrificed multiple priests to bolster his strength, he began to channel the power of a ley line running underneath Hymathel
  • Journey examined a bubble of energy building up from the ley line energy, discerning it had the potential to level the entire city if not dealt with
  • The party eventually fell Father Syllis, but Leadbelly took the Bottle Demon to wear it himself
  • Journey
  • Tyerjon and Seamus had intimations with death
  • Journey managed to snatch the Bottle Demon from Leadbelly, putting it in Wander's bag of holding, affording Leadbelly with a sudden clarity
• The party, alongside the Rain Knight and Brother Falis, who had just emerged out of hiding, grouped together to absorb the power from the built up ley line, taking some damage but gaining great power themselves
  • During the arcane ritual, the party experienced a strange connection to the world, feeling out a network that spanned across its entirety
  • Ryla returned, having successfully held off the demons, but losing her arm in the process
  • The group retrieved the mangled mass of what might have been her arm, but Phaelnah was unable to heal the injury
• Left to deal with the fallout of the demon, the party consulted with Brother Falis on what should be done
  • Phaelnah let slip that she did not worship Fectovarano, shocking Falis, who refused to work with the group until she “returned” to his church
  • Wander disguised himself as Phaelnah, undergoing a baptism in her place to satisfy Falis
  • Phaelnah worked with Falis to craft a purification ritual as well as return the wayward demons remaining in the city
  • The party got to work on some medieval medicine, chopping off arms, legs, horns and ears, filing down teeth, and popping out eyeballs to help the citizenry return to normal
• Leadbelly and Journey ventured down into the Roomy Chest to check on Mardyth
  • Seeing signs of injury caused by the movements of the chest, they two discovered a hole of bashed in wood at the back of the room that led to Razodon Goswin’s manor
  • Emerging into a cellar, they discovered multiple door in a wall similar to the broken one they came from
  • After briefly investigating a crime scene in the kitchen, the two had a chat with Razodon, who mentioned that Mardyth had killed many of his workers and had run amok in Madrioc
  • Seeking revenge, Razodon invited the group back to trade information once they dealt with their demonic situation

Paladirzt 7^th, 951

• Leadbelly, Seamus and Phaelnah underwent the blood purification ritual
  • Leadbelly chose to keep his eyes, and elected to find another way to fix his legs. He got rid of everything else.
  • Seamus chose to keep his extra arms for the time being, and resolved to find a way to remove his neck-mouth
  • As Phaelnah’s bone structure had been elongated, there was no easy way to undo her corruption, at least for a priest of Brother Falis’ caliber.
  • Brother Falis suggested that the group visit the capital and seek out an old friend of his, Brother Jyle.
• Seamus found his uncle, who had been slightly corrupted, but not to a debilitating extent. He cautioned Seamus about showing his face, even in the face of the crisis
• The party spent the rest of their day healing and tending to the elves of Hymathel

Paladirzt 8^th, 951

• The city took down the walls around the Nevald District
• The party was invited to Yutier Venas’vel’s manor in the Hillwood to discuss rewards
