A wondrous item. It is a +3 set of magic armor. It requires attunement to use.
Description
A steel metal badge of respectable size and thickness. The sides of the badge feature what appear to be metal shutters. The face of the badge holds the symbol of the Zelvass family, a dragon on its hind legs facing the west.
Effects
This item requires attunement to use, but it will only attune to one who carries the blood of the Zelvass family.
Once attuned, the badge can be placed upon the chest of the user as a bonus action, and a telescoping set of steel plates will extend across their body, forming a perfectly fitting set of armor with an AC of 15 + 3 + Dex modifier (max 2). This armor does not provide disadvantage on stealth rolls, and can be removed with a bonus action.
Vaneboost. Once a day, as part of an attack, flames erupt out of exhaust ports on the back of the armor, sending the wearer flying forward. Any creatures directly behind the wearer before the boost must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 5 fire damage on a failed save. The wearer may boost forward up to 20 feet, but must boost at least 5 feet. The wearer may attack any one creature in their range at any point in the travel trajectory with advantage. Upon landing, the wearer must make a DC 12 acrobatics check, or fall prone and end their turn. May be used with other feats that affect attacks, such as Great Weapon Master.
History
Dragovanes was discovered by Tyerjon in the secret grave of Vasta the Shield in the Tomb of Zelvass. Upon identifying the badge, Wander learned that it could only be used by one of the Zelvass bloodline. Once Seamus McHammerface discovered his heritage, he began to don the armor, as its unique nature allowed him to take advantage of his rather unique physiology.
In the Great Throne War and beyond, the sight of King Seamus in Dragovanes became a fearful image for the foes of Sanaris. Following the armor becoming shredded by Palefire, Seamus had it reforged with Dirmsteel and adamantine trimming, forged in the breath of an undead dragon.
