Giz

Giz the Goblin

Giz, generally referred to as Giz the Goblin, is a righteous and heroic goblin that patrols the Nightspell Marches, righting evils that take place within its borders. He wields a giant greatsword, which he proficiently uses in battle. He is something of a local legend and mascot for the people of Madrioc, who honor him for the role he played in defeating Zahast.

Description

Giz is a very short, which is to be expected considering his goblin heritage. His skin is is a leathery greyish-green, resembling the hide of a shaved cat. He has large yellow eyes and slitted nostrils, potentially hinting at cave goblin heritage. His teeth are small and sharp, but look to be well cared for. Giz is well toned for a goblin.

Giz is rather straightforward. He constantly pursues his ideal of heroism, but is not much for conversation otherwise. He is generally unflappable, and even in the face of extreme adversity, manages to maintain his calm demeanor.

Skills and Abilities

Giz is quite deft with his greatsword. He uses its mass to his advantage, moving his body alongside the momentum it generates.

History

Giz was born the runt of a pack of goblins, though he cannot quite recall the date of his birth. After being left behind in a raid against a small town, he was taken in by a tiefling traveler that taught him the ways of the sword and instilled a sense of justice in the goblin, teaching him to fight for righteousness.

A few years later, Giz began patrolling the borders of the Nightspell Marches, clearing out dens of beasts and assisting those who were attacked by creatures from the swamps. Though his presence was usually met with fear, Giz was not particularly bothered by this, as he was more concerned with doing the right thing.

In Iron 951, Giz met the Peas on the road from Dorim to Vardev, where the group helped him scare off a pack of gnolls attacking the human caravan. The adventuring party awkwardly met the goblin, who soon left as the caravan members were afraid of him, disappearing into the Nightspell Marches.

Later that year, Giz encountered the Peas once again outside the Grimhold Keep, where he had been working alongside Karcius, Valx and Vacklash to combat Zahast. He joined their party in their attack against the weakened dragon, fighting off its minions and dealing a fair amount of damage to the dragon directly. Giz was knocked unconscious during the fight, but managed to rally without significant damage after the dragon's defeat. Giz bid the party farewell shortly after, again disappearing into the haze of the swamps.

Giz was asked by the Peas to participate in the Battle for the Sun, but the goblin was unsure of how to make it such a distance so quickly, estimating that he would be shot on site if he attempted to approach a city. At the request of the Peas, Giz was granted access to Madrioc following the defeat of the Nightseeker, where he was honored for his role in defeating Zahast. Giz became something of a local mascot for the city, and was constantly treated to free rounds of drinks and foods when his travels brought him through town. However, he continued to lead his life of heroism, heading out into the swamps to right the evils of the world.
