Writhers are strange, fleshy creatures of many eyes and teeth that are capable of mutating rapidly. The beasts use their mutations to propel themselves at great speeds and attack creatures that dare enter their home island, the Isle of Twisting, Gnashing Things. It is unknown how they originated on the island. They are susceptible to vibrations.
Alongside the capability to weaponize their mutations, writhers are also impervious to slashing attacks, simply splitting into multiple writhers when cut apart. Writhers are also capable of splitting off small parts of themselves in the wounds they cause, which fuse to and grow throughout the bodies of infected individuals, spawning more eyes and teeth across the surface of their skin.
The healers of the Vigilant Dragon devised a way to remove writhers that have infected people by setting up a series of needles across the affected area and sending small vibrations through connected strings that unseat the creatures' holds on the flesh.
