Arthur C Clarke

Professor

Arthur C. Clarke was a renowned scholar of the The Wandspire Arcanum, celebrated for his controversial belief that magic and machinery were merely different expressions of the same universal principles. While many mages dismissed artificers and inventors as glorified tinkers, Clarke argued that sufficiently advanced arcane engineering would appear miraculous even to accomplished spellcasters.

His lectures on celestial thaumaturgy, long-range communication rituals, and predictive divination drew students from across Goldcrest, though his theories were often considered eccentric during his lifetime. Clarke became especially famous for his writings on the future of magical society, insisting that one day knowledge itself would travel faster than ships, spells, or messengers.

He is most commonly quoted for the phrase:

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

Today, his works remain required reading at The Wandspire Arcanum, particularly among artificers, astronomancers, and dangerously ambitious apprentices.
