The Feast of the Goddess of is the largest and most important annual celebration in the empire or at least it is outside of Songborne. In the floating palace the three day festival celebrating how the goddess continually gives birth to the world, replenishing the cosmos every second of every day, is commenced with in a single day but still contains most of the elements spread out over three in the empire below. That means there is symbolic planting, a parade and a great feast. The festival is ancient and no one knows its exact origins but many believe it began in the land ruled by the Sythe, the farm lands where crops growing and being replenished year after year is so crucial to daily life. Spread along with the sale of their crops it became popular amongst the many farmers in other precincts and spread from there.
In the palace the feast is traditionally held for the Inner and Outer Courts in the Repon Garden.
THE SEATING CEREMONY
In Songborne, there is a ceremony that is held in the Stewards Reception Hall that has a fanciful way of deciding the seating arrangements for the Feast of the Goddess and who will be named lord and lady of the feast.
Usually held a week before the feast itself, each member of the Inner and Outer Court has their name written on a petal and then the petals are dropped from high up on the far wall where the statue of one of the first Lord Stewards stands and seats are assigned compared to how close they fall to a golden coin that represents the Imperial Family. The nearest man and woman to the family are named lord and lady of the feast. The next petal is measured for distance and assigned the next seat and so on and so forth until all the seats are assigned.
