Previous Episode: The Significant Treasure - S01 E06

In the evening the adventurers arrive in Easthold, where they ventured into a local tavern, the Crossed Axe. After being served a mysterious concoction known as "Happy Drink," they blacked out, only to wake up in a nearby forest with throbbing headaches and no memory of the previous night. Among them, they discovered curious new possessions: Matty 'Asmatheus' Forester found himself wearing a noble ring adorned with the symbol of two eagles; Diggy Holderhek possessed a silver key and some money; and Ragnar Meliamne mysteriously sported a new mustache. Nearby, they encountered Drake Woods, a bandit leader they had apparently captured during their forgotten escapades, who now pleaded for help. As they pieced together their night, they realized they had also imprisoned several bandits and circus performers in a box, though the original plan behind their actions remained a mystery. The situation escalated when they were ambushed by an ogre with goblins on its back. Despite the challenge, they successfully defeated the attackers. In the midst of the chaos, Drake attempted to flee but was soon caught and decisively dealt with by Ragnar.

Returning to Easthold, the party was stopped by guards and unexpectedly invited to the castle of Baron Charles Dalton, the local ruler. The Baron, facing a generations-old family curse that inflicted illness upon every male heir, sought adventurers capable of breaking it. The ring in Matty's possession, belonging to the Baron, prompted their involvement. At the Baron's behest, they explored an underground hideout, rumored to be connected to the curse through a necromancer who once dominated the land. They faced a riddle-guarded door leading to what was believed to be the necromancer’s laboratory. Solving the riddle, they accessed the room, only to find it empty. The true source of the curse was revealed back at the castle during the Baron's inauguration feast. When handed the Baron's ceremonial goblet, they deduced that lead poisoning from the goblet was the actual curse afflicting the family. By convincing the Baron to abandon the traditional use of the goblet, they effectively lifted the curse, bringing relief and gratitude from the Baron's family.
