The adventurers set out from Myrandil towards the south. Along the path, they encountered a stray, overweight cat. Juul Troski, immediately taken with the feline, adopted it, naming it Rover, and even fashioned a little blue pointy hat for it, matching his own. Meanwhile, Danté Galanodel found a little imp and decided to keep it perched on his shoulder. Their journey took a sudden turn for the worse when the imp sneezed fire, accidentally setting the bridge to Easthold ablaze. As the bridge crumbled and fell into the river below, cutting off their main route south, the group commandeered a nearby rowboat. As they paddled across, bullywugs emerged from the waters, attacking them. The adventurers managed a swift victory, continuing to a small island that harbored a cave entrance to a hidden dungeon. Inside the dungeon, the group faced terrifying nightmares that ensnared Danté Galanodel, Matty 'Asmatheus' Forester, and Diggy Holderhek in horrific visions. Their companions rallied to their aid, pulling them from the brink and swiftly exiting the dungeon to the other riverbank. After they regrouped, they were astopped by soldiers of the Eastern Kingdom on a hillside. The soldiers read a parchment, accusing the group—except Matty—of heinous crimes, including the murder of a servant of Lord Edward Brown and the destruction of the Golden Lion inn. As the soldiers took the others into custody, Matty was declared innocent but knocked unconscious.

When Matty awoke, he found himself face-to-face with Kody Hunter, a ranger on a vendetta against a pack of orcs that had slain his family. Matty joined him. Meanwhile, the detained adventurers and their captors faced an orc ambush near Easthold. The soldiers were swiftly overwhelmed, and the adventurers fled into the forest, with the orcs close behind. Just as the situation grew dire, Matty and Kody arrived, tipping the scales momentarily until the fight seemed lost. Then, out of nowhere, the Doler emerged, decisively ending the orc threat with lethal precision. After the dust settled, the Doler and Kody Hunter departed, leaving the adventurers to press on toward Easthold.
