Previous Episode: The Significant Treasure - S02 E03
Ragnar Meliamne and Matty 'Asmatheus' Forester found themselves at the edge of a forest, heading west towards a point of interest on their map of West-Aclea that resembled a party hat. As they walked along the road, they came across an abandoned cart carrying wood from Aesa. While investigating the cart, a cat passed by and disappeared into the forest. Finding nothing of interest, they continued their journey, only to realize they were being followed by a group of cats. Ragnar vaguely recalled tales of elves from these regions thousands of years ago who had cats as familiars. Their journey took an intriguing turn when they stumbled upon a cart carrying an older man and his son. After a brief conversation, they bought the horse from the travelers, who also warned them of a pirate ship wreckage in Lastshore and the presence of pirates. Continuing west, they encountered another cart, this time carrying two Western Kingdom soldiers and a cage holding three men and a girl. Using Thieves' Cant, Matty asked the prisoners if they wanted to be freed, to which they eagerly agreed. Matty and Ragnar engaged the soldiers in combat, managing to free the prisoners despite accidentally killing one of them.
The first man, Algernon Travers, revealed he had been caught stealing to feed his poor family. The second man, Calvin Pont, was falsely accused of a crime, and the elven girl, Annora Amakiir, had been arrested for refusing to marry a baron. Grateful for their freedom, the three joined Ragnar and Matty on their journey. That night, Ragnar was awakened by the meowing of cats. Following them into a mysterious white light, he, along with Annora, found a large, illuminated tree where the cats hung around. The flowers around the tree emitted a soft glow, and inside, they discovered a birdbath filled with water that showed visions of the future. Both Ragnar and Annora saw visions of their future, including Ragnar's reunion with his companions. They also found a golden egg. In a moment of intimacy, Ragnar and Annora shared a kiss before returning to the camp, the experience feeling like a dream. The next morning, the group prepared to continue their journey west, but they get ambushed by a dozen men pointing their bow and arrows, here to arrest the Noble Warriors. Ragnar gets arrested and taken away leaving the rest behind.
