Old Eskor, a continent that housed perhaps the strongest force the world had ever known. A continent that fell apart. A continent whose fall was sold as a simple one, when the tides rose centuries ago, the people fled, powers separated, and order collapsed. Eventually, this land left in ruins was given a new purpose, a purpose by the enemy of its people. Old Eskor became an Authority prison, a land that had collapsed into a continental crater, transformed into a stronghold of concrete and steel, turning a tragedy into a scar on Lumen. This prison threw its prisoners into the depths of Old Eskors, allowing them to survive in a land where light rarely shone and crops struggled to grow. The only exits are highly controlled Authority Bastions that draw lifts far into the depths, extracting what little magical crystal the land has left.
Continent Name
Description:
A prison continent where light rarely shines and crops struggle to grow. Light is referred to as the true currency down here; it's a rare commodity and is often sold for high prices. Typically, low-grade crystals are used to create magical lighting, making the only reliable source of light the continent's main form of currency, hence why "Light is the true currency down here.".
The landscape is filled with flora that favors low light conditions, with giant mushroom forests consuming much of Old Eskor. Alongside these forests, the crater is riddled with sparse dungeons. These dungeons typically consist of small structures freshly emerged from the ground, often containing magical beasts within.
Within Eskor's corpse are several settlements. The authority dropped prisoners in without regard, using large elevators. Those who were trapped adapted and created civilizations deep under the sea level. These towns are often built with a great deal of verticality and steep walls. Often, Towns near the walls will have high elevation farms, trying to capitalize on what little light the area gets.
Despite the technical possibility of escape, most inhabitants are aware of the fact that they most likely can't leave, creating a unique dynamic of despair and intense community spirit.
Authority merchants will often travel from town to town offering rare commodities or goods in exchange for magic crystals mined from dungeons.
In the center of the Continent is a giant tower, The Spire of Stars, a large dungeon that radiates a blue glow, standing as a beacon for all travelers within the crater.
In the absence of light, creatures do seem to survive down here; they have adapted to the low light conditions and typically have evolved a sort of dark vision.
Lore:
Old Eskor, a continent that housed perhaps the strongest force the world had ever known after the heavens collapse. A continent that fell apart. The common tale of Eskor's fall is a simple one: when the tides rose centuries ago, the people fled, powers separated, and order collapsed. They moved to the mountainous continent they’ve dubbed “New Eskor.” Despite this change, the remnants of the world government rebranded, constructing a new home for themselves amongst the tides.
