Welcome to Lumen, a world forever altered by the Great Drowning (hundreds of years ago) and Celestillias (thousands of years ago) collapse. Continents sank, pillars rose, and the world flipped onto itself. The world's song played new tunes, offering its inhabitants small miracles called magic. The beauty of the song drew eyes from the people of the stars, and they descended upon Lumen alongside their falling home. Though the starkindred were not the only ones lured, eventually forces from beyond this world invaded, suppressing the song under its chaotic symphony. The very depths of the ocean came alive, murmuring, waiting, seeking a chance to drag souls down under. What remained were fragmented Luminants, scattered across an archipelago dominated by what few powers remained. However, even these grand powers found themselves helpless in the presence of forces foreign to their world.

The journey begins in one of two places: New Eskor, a mountainous island continent bustling with tension and travelers. A place where the remnants of the World Government rebuilt themselves after the “collapse”. A land plagued with conflict from the Central Authority, a conflict that’s bred only corruption and crime. Forging New Eskor into a land where authority and justice have blurred. Forcing the land's inhabitants to fight a proxy war for reasons that are unknown to them. — or Old Eskor, a continent that housed perhaps the strongest force the world had ever known. A continent that fell apart. A continent whose fall was sold as a simple one, when the tides rose centuries ago, the people fled, powers separated, and order collapsed. Eventually, this land left in ruins was given a new purpose, a purpose by the enemy of its people. Old Eskor became an Authority prison, a land that had collapsed into a continental crater, transformed into a stronghold of concrete and steel, turning a tragedy into a scar on Lumen. This prison threw its prisoners into the depths of Old Eskors, allowing them to survive in a land where light rarely shone and crops struggled to grow. The only exits are highly controlled Authority Bastions that draw lifts far into the depths, extracting what little magical crystal the land has left. The world is divided into four lumens, defined each by a cardinal direction, within these lumens many secrets fester: from advanced steampunk marvels of the north to the central ancient ruins of Fallen Celestia and the old world, to the grand-lines islands floating in the sky, to the eastern perilous Abyss Zones and the shifting landscapes of the Iridescent Expanse this world is filled with mystique and marvel. Its inhabitants face one of two choices: living their lives forever on the surface or facing their fears and traveling into the “heavens down below”. Through these exploits, one may earn fragments of these foreign powers, or perhaps unlock the unique expression of one's soul through “Resonance”.

Tales of the Luminants is our story. Together, we will forge a world shaped by your choices, where every adventure leaves its mark on the very fabric of Lumen itself. Will you rise to face powers even the gods fled from, or seek a simple destiny in a world on the brink of destruction? The Luminants await.
