World Eras and Notes

GM Timeline

This timeline is for GMs and such to use, as a reference for story hooks and the like. It chefily will cover the two Eras of The Age of Gith, and the Age of Steam and Sorcery, as well as giving an overview of Elemental Dawn.

Elemental Dawn (ED) < 0

This is the Dawn of the world. There are no written records of this time. Merely the age of conflict that Elementals of great power wrought across the world.

  • Battle's Dusk

The War for Elemental Dawn raged for an Eon on the planet, before it finally subsided. When the battle ended none can say for certain, but when the Githyanki first came to the land, the scars of the great conflict were long healed over, and new plant and animal life was begining to grow and prosper on the planet.

Age of Githyanki (AG) -20,000 — -6,000

This is the Era in which the Githyanki empire from the Astral plane, took rule over the planet.

The Shriek happened, killing a vast majority of the Gith world wide, forcing its survivors to abandon the planet. Thus leaving the slave races to its own devices. Its manuscripts were hidden throughout the world which eventually taught explorer's magic

The Shriek, as it is known to time, happened some -9000 years ago at the end of the Age of the Githyanki. As the slave race established their new planet-wide slaveport, the gods of Faerun inevitably caught wind of the conquest and sought to intervene by interloping into the sphere and combating the Githyanki.

The fighting was swift, but furious. As the Githyanki fought a losing battle against deity level avatars, the conflict forced the slavers to utilize the apocalyptic weapon code-named Astral Spire, which would emit a interplannar, sphere-wide psionic shriek that not only sundered celestial beings, but those psionically able.

The psychic wave swept the sphere, and decimated the avatars like a death of a star, manifesting in a supernova that pushed to the edges of the sphere and coalesced at the borders of the Far Realms.

The Astral Spire, was so powerful, and single in use, that the destruction of the deity's avatars not only were decimated, but also set to linger and ooze out pools of divine power that coalesced like a crater that amassed rain water.

These pools are invisible to the naked eye, even with low magic it cannot be detected and the divine powers of that deity simmered and could be tapped into just as a deity's cleric draws power to refill its spell-slots

The carcass of the Avatars however were not expelled from the sphere, rather- manifested engrams of those deities, echoes of their personas that remained in a pseudo-stasis that mirrored their ideals and tenets

The mortals that worshiped such engrams did not in-fact escape to their deity's heaven, but rather were caught in a programmed illusion of the idea, left to be constricted to its matrix unbeknownst to them, forever swimming in stasis

As The Shriek traveled throughout the known world and at every conflict with Avatars, the encounter manifested Ley lines to erupt into the world, which by design shielded the planet against further interlopers.

The little surviving Githyanki abandoned the planet shortly after.

Rediscovery and Rebuilding (RR) -6,000 — 0

After the fall of the Githyanki Empire, and the Abandoning of the slave races upon the planet, things fall into a long dark age. Several hundred years later, rebuilding of small city states, and tiny kingdoms begins,  society rebuilding itself from the ruins of Githyanki Tech

Humans, elves, orcs, and other 'standard' races start to rise to dominance.

Age of The Veiled Kings (VK) 0 — 3,428

After small kingdoms boomed and expanded exponentially, the height of the dark ages peaks as wars and rebellions rise and fall, the Draconic Kingdoms reign supreme and result into infighting, eventually dawning the birth of The Three-Kingdoms with the crowned Emperor endorsed by The Golden Kingdom, Versulis of Calaban. Peace restored upon Vafrope as kings and rulers lived mainly isolated from foreign affairs.

The end of this era slowly faded as major kingdoms reopened their borders and embassies with old allies and neighbors.

    Winter of 3428

The coalition of the Northern Realms of Novus united under the command of Jordphan Esimus, a human in his sixties made his move to display his undeniable immense power to his neighbors in the realm, crowning himself as the Unseen King and his subjects the Deathsmarch. His armies initiated their descent onto the southern kingdoms after deciphering ancient eldritch manuscripts left behind by the Githyanki. Their onslaught decimated the kingdom of Kinargzad and later began to spread to many kingdoms of the south, until the moment refered to "Advent of Paragons" a new age where gods walked among men and provided aid to push back against the enveloping darkness.

Age of Paragons & Sorcery (PS) > 3,445

This is the era the players are in. The beginning of this era starts 27 years after the Deathsmarch that came with the advent of (insert technomagic here) by Leyairah of house Vandrel from Osirus, Tyrael.

A new age of prosperity was ushered in on the Western continent. Wars were still fought, and people still died, but people within the civilized kingdoms enjoyed a standard of living far above that of any prior or future eras.

The current year is 3447
