Summary
The One Who Lurks Beneath the Ice (sometimes known as The Frost) is a primordial dragon-like being which has terrorized Irkasy since the beginning of recorded history. Its kingdom once spanned the entirety of the Irkasian continent and spread well into Targues, and all who lived within it suffered through a brutal, seemingly endless winter.
Though its reach was vast, few ever saw the being itself. It had no need to venture from its lair to expand its territory and so most thought the eternal winter it brought an unrelated occurrence. There were still those who remembered the old tales, however, and in (xxxx) those few banded together to put an end to the Frost's reign of terror.
It required the combined effort of mortal and divine — and great sacrifice — to weaken the primordial being enough to seal it beneath the ice of the frozen Irkasian northlands. Since then, no one has dared speak its true name, for fear that it might wake from its slumber and ravage Aghera once again.
Abilities
Apart from heralding winter, The One Who Lurks Beneath the Ice is said to possess the ability to warp the minds of other beings. The oral traditions of the Irkasian coastal folk hold that some of their ancestors were driven mad by voices and songs that they heard on the winds sweeping across the tundra or emanating from strange ice formations that dotted the frozen landscape. Most wandered off into the blizzards, never to be seen again, but others turned on their kin, sowing chaos in the communities that were already struggling to survive.
