The Kingdom of the Y'kanos was a nation which ruled the Y'kanos Forest during the late centuries of the Fourth Age.
The Kingdom of the Y'kanos was an elective monarchy. Upon the death of the King or Queen of the Y'kanos, a council of the houses of the Y'kanos would convene and elect a new monarch, usually the head of one of the ruling houses. Following the Pelegonic Conquest, Pelegon I changed the Y'kanos to a hereditary monarchy, but allowed the lords of the Y'kanos to convene a final council to elect a king and, by proxy, decide which house would hold the new title of Shah of Bark and Pine. The Karsh'sarktahno elected the then-incumbent reigning King, Paderion I, to serve as Shah of Bark and Pine.
