Quiet Castle

The Quiet Castle is the castle of House Ugaros. It is famous for standing atop the mysterious Silent Necropolis, a gargantuan underground tomb complex of unknown origin. The castle was encountered and inhabited by the original founders of House Ugaros, who named it the Quiet Castle due to the unnatural silence, unlike any "normal" silence they had ever heard, which they observed within its walls upon their first arrival. Though today it is as bustling and boisterous as any castle, the tombs beneath retain the same ominous silence.

The castle is technically part of the Silent Necropolis, as it was initially a tall tower in the complex. However, in the passing years, cave-ins and rubble have left it separate from the Necropolis. By the time it was settled by House Ugaros, it had already been settled by others at some previous point in history, making it an "impure specimen" of the complex.

The Quiet Castle is believed to be magical in some way that manifests over generations. While, according to family records, House Ugaros' founders were indistinguishable from any other Kaduir, over many generations they developed their characteristic height, paleness, lankiness, white eyes, and white hair. No one knows for sure, but this is speculated to be tied to the magic of either the castle or the Necropolis beneath it.
