A Yohm-kar greatsword
Yohm-kar are types of materials created in the Deshenite Kingdom which are known to create weapons, armor, and other items of unparalleled quality. Yohm-kar is created from Starstuff, and though the blades are crystalline, they are stronger than any metal blade.
The name "Yohm-kar" derives from the Mannic word for water ("yoham") and the word for magical weapon ("kar").
The forging process remains unknown, having been lost with the Mannic peoples. However, it is known that magic played as much of a role in its creation as traditional smelting and forging. Because of this, Yohm-kar weapons are magical in nature. Yohm-kar is one of the most expensive materials in the world, and in centuries past, kings have paid entire kingdoms' ransoms for a single blade of the material.
One of Pelegon I's many miracles was the creation of a new Yohm-kar blade from the meteorite that caused his enlightenment, the blade was the first Yohm-kar blade to be forged from raw Starstuff since the Second Age.

Yohm-kar is stronger, lighter, sharper, more durable, and harder than even the best castle-forged steel. Starstuff was the primary component in the forging of Yohm-kar, giving Yohm-kar items a “glassy” aspect to their appearance and a slight glimmer or glow. Obsidian and other volcanic glasses were also used in the forging process. In addition to the glassy aspect of its appearance, Yohm-kar is known for its distinctive rippling patterns, a byproduct of the magical forging process.
Reforging Yohm-kar is nearly as complicated as creating it. However, a select few blacksmiths have the discipline and skill, and know the required spells, to properly reforge Yohm-kar metals.
Due to its quality and rarity, Yohm-kar is highly sought after and prized across El-Bayir. Many noble houses have ancestral weapons or other heirlooms of Yohm-kar.
