The Great Nests is the name given to the region of Aarakocra settlement on the mountaintops and cliffsides of the Mernel Mountains. In the days of Old Mernel, the Aarakocra tribes here had an uneasy peace with the Dwarves of Mernel.
The Pelegonic Conquest led to the vassalization of the Aarakocra of the Great Nests. Allowed to retain their unique democratic culture in exchange for vassalization, the Aarakocra of the Great Nests are largely left to their own devices by the Empire, but are officially sworn to House Odios Pelegon as direct vassals.
