Resurrection refers to the reunification of body and soul and the return of the body to proper health. In short, bringing the dead back to life without inducing undeath. A soul returned to life loses all memories of the time after death until its permanent death.
Resurrection is a tricky and unpredictable magical art, requiring interaction with Karad-Dun, the God of Death, and usually requiring the use of a Coisar.
According to legend, the demigod Nisse was the first person to be resurrected
The Lady of Sorrows is the patron deity of resurrection. She is said to have been born from Nurus and Nisse, thereby being the first life created due to resurrection
Types of Resurrection
- Revivification: the returning of a soul after death but before it is taken by Tover to the Halls of Karad-Dun
- Raise Dead: the returning of a soul after it reaches the Halls of Karad-Dun but before it is judged and sent to an afterlife, causing immense physical weakness for a time after returning to life
- Reincarnate: when a soul is reincarnated into a new body, some mystics theorize that certain heroes are reincarnated after death until the world no longer has need of them
- Resurrection: the returning of a soul after it has been judged by Karad-Dun and entered an afterlife. This form of magic usually requires bargaining with Karad-Dun and always requires the use of a Coisar
