Chess is a game played across El-Bayir. Variations of chess have existed since the First Age. Theories abound over the origin of chess. Some scholars speculate it was invented by the Mannic peoples, or the Lunarian, or even Reshat peoples like the Ap'kallu or K'srn. Regardless of origin, variations of chess have been played for all of recorded history, and the game has wildly evolved over time and place. The most common form of chess is Kardunashi-Ba'hrammite Chess, which is a fusion of the traditional Kardunashi style and the style most common in the Ba'hram Desert. Spreading through trade routes along the Marble Road, this variant of chess is the standard form played across all of Yekare, Kardunash, and the Sea of Gold.
