Cherafir is the capital city and principal port of the Kingdom of Melderyn. The city is well fortified and its strong citadel is the main residence of King Chunel Toron. Known as the “Mages’ City,” Melderyn traces its origins to the enigmatic Earthmasters who inhabited Hârn millennia ago. Cherafir is seen by most Hârnians as a bizarre anomaly, prone to strange happenings and inhabited by weird entities. This reputation, while largely fictitious, is promoted by the inhabitants of the city. Cherafir is the most cosmopolitan of Hârnic towns, particularly its dock-side foreigners’ quarter known as the Alienage. More than any other Hârnic city, Cherafir has been a center of scholastic activity. Dozens of secret societies of practitioners of various arcane arts have their headquarters in the city.
