The Cohorts of Gashang (whose full name is “The Cohorts of Gashang, Emperor of Flame”) are a fighting order sponsored by the clerical Order of the Eight Demons. The headquarters of the order is Themeson Keep, along the Rethem-Thardic Republic border. Most members are stationed there or in the six surrounding manors. The Cohorts also maintains chapterhouses at the Eight Demons temples in Shiran, Coranan, and Golotha. A small company of Cohorts of Gashang soldiers is also stationed outside the Eight Temples temple at Geshtei.
Interestingly, while its sponsoring clerical order, the order of the Eight Demons, is restricted to women the Cohorts of Gashang is open only to males. The headquarters of the order are at Themeson. The order's formal name is the "Cohorts of Gashang the Emperor of Flame", but this is seldom used. The Cohorts of Gashang are the result of the same theological/political disputes that created their sponsoring clerical order; in the case of the Cohorts of Gashang they split from their parent fighting order the Red Shadows of Herpa; in so doing they also took Themeson keep with them. The Haragki and Laumak of the order often deliver captives to the tender mercies of its parental clerical order in Golotha, Shiran and Coranan; most Hârnians tend to avoid them.
The order's Akarata is Crasel Merbed. He dwells at Themeson. Illriggers of the Cohorts of Gashang are self-mutilators and always male. Even other Agrikans fear them. They usually take contracts with Prince Pavahnis (Architects of Ruin), Prince Aneshar (Plagueknights), or Prince Ashlagya (Shadowmasters).
