| Advowson
The patronage of a parish church. The patron has the right of presentation to the benefice, that is, to present his or her choice for the parish clergy to the bishop for appointment. Generally, the patron may expect to receive a small yearly fee from the parish priest (anywhere from a few pence to a few pounds, depending upon the income of the benefice) taken from the tithes or other income of the church.
