Fee Simple is a manner of holding land whereby the estate may be disposed of without any particular restrictions and/or without the consent of the local lord. Fee Taile is a way of holding land such that there are restrictions on who may obtain the land. Most feudal land is held in fee taile and cannot be sold or inherited without the consent of the liege (or granter) because most or all land in a feudal kingdom really belongs to the monarch.
