The name Le Cercle de Penombre was first told to Rowan by Zornagol, the fiend librarian of Broek. He emphasized that it would be VERY important, and key to MANY of their quests.
The name came up again from Dizzy, in relation to Baba Yaga. The story goes that she had chased the three hags out of Mishkyn some 100 years prior, and they had disappeared to who-knows-where. Some other rumors attached to the story include the possibility of the hags still being alive today, and there having originally been FOUR hags.
During a meeting that the Hamlin Strike Team were able to drop in on via scrying, Baba Yaga herself confirmed that Le Cercle de Penombre were indeed still alive, and the ones who currently have Ozrius under their control. She says that their plan is to sacrifice Ozzie to re-strengthen the Briar Wall. Though really, sacrificing those hags should do just as well. Eating and sacrificing children is just so distasteful.
Additional Info:
- They are supposedly in The Woods, but Baba Yaga cannot pinpoint exactly where. Just the general country.
- The hags have Ozzie under some kind of enchantment that makes him see and trust them as well-known Aunties. It is a tricky spell that can only be broken on the Solstice, with something that only Baba Yaga can provide, and only done by Hollie.
- The Hamlin Strike team will have to visit Baba Yaga in Mishkyn in the weeks before Solstice to prepare, and she will maintain a spell that will keep Le Cercle de Penombre from sacrificing Ozrius until that time.
