Pawn Shoppe

In a narrow, half-forgotten alley of the Plank District stands a crooked little storefront with a weather-beaten sign that simply reads “Pawn Shoppe.” The letters are faded, the wood cracked and splintered, and most passersby assume the shop has been long abandoned. Yet the faint glow of lamplight seeps through the shutters, and the bell over the door still rings when someone dares to step inside.

The interior is sparse and dimly lit, with only a few shelves of mismatched goods on display—an old sword, a cracked lantern, a dented helm, a string of cloudy pearls. Dust lies heavy across most of it, as though the items are for show more than for sale. The air is cool and still, carrying a faint metallic tang. The emptiness of the shop makes one thing clear: this is not where Khonsu Bitterblood makes his true profit.

Khonsu himself, a shadar-kai with sharp eyes and a sharper tongue, lingers behind the counter. He is quick to dismiss casual browsers, but those who know the right words—or who carry the right sort of goods—may be ushered into discreet back-room dealings. It is whispered that Khonsu is one of the most connected fences in Lygos, trading in stolen goods, smuggled relics, and secrets too dangerous to speak aloud in the open.

For the average customer, the Pawn Shoppe is little more than a curiosity. For criminals, adventurers, and the desperate, it is a door into the city’s shadow economy—though one that always swings Khonsu’s way.
