Feygarden's Books

Nestled in a quiet lane of the Central District, Feygarden Books is a beloved curiosity among the readers of Lygos. Owned and operated by the Gnome couple Leopold and Clara Feygarden, the shop is as much a work of art as it is a business. The building has been constructed entirely around a living oak tree whose great trunk rises through the middle of the shop and pierces the ceiling, its upper branches spreading into the air above the roofline. The leafy canopy filters sunlight into the store, filling the space with a gentle green glow.

The shop is two stories tall, though scaled to gnome proportionstaller folk must stoop and duck to avoid low beams, narrow stairwells, and shelves that seem to close in cozily around them. Books line every available surface, from sturdy oak shelves to the very boughs of the tree itself, where wooden platforms hold precarious but well-loved collections. The air always smells of parchment, ink, and faintly of acorns.

Leopold, a wiry gnome with spectacles forever sliding down his nose, is the collector and cataloger—he knows where every book belongs and delights in tracking down obscure tomes for customers. Clara, warm and quick-witted, presides over the hearth and reading nooks, always ready with tea and pastries for those who wish to linger. Between them, they’ve created an atmosphere where scholars, students, adventurers, and dreamers all feel at home.

The Feygardens’ stock ranges from simple primers and religious texts to rare maps, Spellbooks, and histories imported from far-off lands. Adventurers often come here in search of lore before heading out into the unknown, and more than one secret of Lygos has been uncovered while browsing the shelves.

Feygarden Books is more than a shop—it is a sanctuary of words, rooted in the heart of Lygos just as surely as the oak that holds it aloft.
