Temple of Silvanus

The Verdant Heart of Pyra

Location: Suburbs of Pyra
Deity: Silvanus, God of Nature
Head Priestess: Drusilla, Spring Eladrin

Temple Description:

The Temple of Silvanus is less a traditional structure and more a living sanctuary, designed to blend seamlessly with the natural landscape of Pyra. Towering ancient oaks and vines woven into natural arches form its boundaries, while stone pathways are overgrown with moss and wildflowers, reflecting the untamed beauty that Silvanus embodies.

The main altar is an enormous tree stump, believed to be the remnants of a sacred tree struck by lightning, symbolizing the cycle of death and renewal. Waterfalls cascade gently over carved stones, filling small reflective pools where acolytes meditate. The air is filled with the fragrance of blooming flowers, even in seasons where none should grow.

Drusilla: The Blooming Voice of the Wild

  • Race: Spring Eladrin

  • Role: High Priestess of the Temple of Silvanus

  • Personality: Serene, Enigmatic, Compassionate but Unpredictable

Drusilla embodies the very essence of spring—renewal, beauty, and hidden wildness. Her appearance shifts subtly with her moods: her hair shimmers like sunlight through fresh leaves, and her emerald-green eyes sparkle with both kindness and mystery. Despite her ethereal beauty, she carries an air of unpredictability, much like the sudden storms of her season.

  • Compassionate Guide: She is a gentle mentor to her acolytes, but her advice often comes in cryptic metaphors that require contemplation.

  • Unpredictable Temperament: While usually serene, she can shift to fierce intensity if nature is threatened, reflecting the raw, untamed power of the Feywild.

  • Deep Connection to the Feywild: Drusilla speaks of the Feywild not as a distant realm but as an ever-present heartbeat beneath the surface of the natural world.

The Hidden Chamber & Feywild Portal:

Beneath the temple lies a secret chamber, accessible through a concealed grove that responds only to specific druidic rites. The chamber is carved from ancient stone, with walls covered in glowing moss and vines pulsing faintly with fey energy.

At its center stands a circle of standing stones, etched with runes tied to both Silvanus and the Feywild. Drusilla can perform a ritual here to open a portal to the Feywild, a sacred and dangerous act only done under dire circumstances or for those she deems worthy.

  • Purpose: This portal serves as a potential gateway for players seeking access to the Feywild, whether to pursue lost artifacts, hunt fey creatures, or unravel ancient pacts.

  • Risks: The portal is a fragile threshold—unpredictable fey entities may slip through if not carefully controlled, and shadowy forces might seek to exploit it.

Role in Gameplay:

  1. Quest Giver: Drusilla may task the players with retrieving rare components needed to stabilize the portal or investigating disturbances linked to the Feywild.

  2. Feywild Connection: If the players have ties to fey creatures, lost relics, or need to pursue someone into the Feywild, Drusilla’s portal becomes a pivotal resource.

  3. Moral Dilemmas: Drusilla’s loyalty to the natural order may conflict with the players’ goals, especially if they threaten the balance between the mortal world and the Feywild.

Quotes:

  • “The wild is not meant to be tamed. It is to be respected, revered… and feared.”

  • “The Feywild is not behind us or beyond us. It is here, just beyond the veil—waiting for those bold enough to seek it.”

  • “You seek the path to the other side? Then be prepared. The Feywild does not give without taking.”

Adventure Hooks:

  1. “Breach in the Veil” – The portal beneath the temple has been disturbed, allowing dangerous fey creatures to slip into Pyra. Drusilla seeks the players’ help to restore the balance.

  2. “Seeds of Corruption” – A dark fey entity has taken root within the temple’s sacred grounds, slowly corrupting its magic. The players must venture into the Feywild to find a cure.

  3. “The Price of Passage” – The players need to enter the Feywild, but Drusilla demands they complete a task for Silvanus first, forcing them to confront moral or environmental dilemmas.

The Temple of Silvanus and Drusilla offer a rich blend of natural wonder, fey intrigue, and moral complexity, serving as both a sanctuary and a gateway to mystical adventures beyond the mortal realm.
