Aramis Longbow

Guard

Occupation: Rookie City Watch Officer (Assigned to the Plank District)
Personality: Eager, Anxious, Naive, Endearingly Awkward

Appearance:

Aramis Longbow is a tall, lanky Wood Elf with an awkward gait and a knack for tripping over her own feet—or worse, over absolutely nothing. Her straw-colored hair is often pulled back into a messy bun, with strands constantly slipping loose. She wears the standard City Watch uniform, which always seems just a bit too large or slightly askew, her sword belt never sitting quite right. Her bright green eyes reflect a mix of determination and perpetual anxiety, giving her the look of someone trying really hard not to mess up… and usually failing.

Personality:

Aramis is a bundle of nervous energy, over-eager to prove herself yet perpetually second-guessing every decision she makes. She’s the type who’ll salute the wrong person, trip over her own scabbard, or nervously laugh at the worst possible moments. Despite her clumsiness, she’s genuinely kind-hearted and deeply committed to doing the right thing.

  • Eager to Impress: She desperately wants to be taken seriously by her superiors in the City Watch.

  • Naive but Hopeful: Believes in the inherent goodness of people, which makes her vulnerable to manipulation by more cunning villains.

  • Surprisingly Brave: Despite her nerves, Aramis won’t hesitate to stand her ground when it truly matters, even if she’s shaking in her boots while doing it.

Role in Gameplay:

  1. Comic Relief Encounter: Players might stumble upon Aramis in the middle of a mishap—dropping a stack of confiscated evidence, chasing a petty thief who’s clearly faster, or struggling with a map she’s reading upside down.

  2. Quest Hook: Aramis could become an accidental quest-giver. Perhaps she’s assigned to investigate something out of her depth, and the players can choose to help her (or cover for her mistakes).

  3. City Watch Connection: Over time, Aramis can serve as an informal contact within the City Watch. She’s a window into the organization’s inner workings—sometimes offering valuable information, other times creating more chaos than help.

Abilities (or Lack Thereof):

  • Mediocre Fighter: She’s not great in combat, often fumbling with her weapon or dropping her shield at critical moments.

  • Surprising Luck: Aramis occasionally succeeds through sheer dumb luck. Think of moments like accidentally tripping into an enemy, causing them to fall, or misfiring a crossbow that ricochets and hits the right target anyway.

  • Keen Observer (When She’s Focused): Despite her clumsiness, she has sharp instincts—she just struggles to act on them without tripping over her own feet.

Key Relationships:

  • Watch Superiors: Aramis desperately wants to impress her commanding officers, though most see her as more of a “project” than a promising recruit.

  • Potential Villain Manipulation: Due to her trusting nature, she’s easily deceived by charismatic criminals or smooth-talking informants, sometimes unwittingly aiding villains without realizing it.

Quotes:

  • “City Watch! Uh… halt! Or… slow down? No, wait—freeze! Yes, that’s the one!”

  • “Don’t worry, I’ve got this totally under control—whoops! … That wasn’t supposed to happen.”

  • “I may be new at this, but I’m not giving up. Not until I… uh… figure out how to get my sword unstuck from this doorframe.”

Adventure Hooks:

  1. “The Rookie’s Mistake” – Aramis accidentally arrests the wrong person or misplaces an important piece of evidence, dragging the players into a hilarious and chaotic cover-up (or recovery mission).

  2. “A Cry for Help” – Aramis stumbles upon real criminal activity, but her pleas for backup are ignored due to her reputation. She turns to the players for help, leading to a surprisingly dangerous investigation.

  3. “Badge of Honor” – During a city-wide crisis, Aramis is unexpectedly promoted to a leadership role due to sheer circumstance. The players must help her navigate both the politics of the City Watch and the real dangers of Lygos.

Aramis Longbow is the perfect mix of comic relief, heartfelt underdog, and unexpected bravery. Whether she’s fumbling through an interrogation or accidentally saving the day, she’s an NPC players will grow to love—or at least be amused by—every time they cross paths.
