The party was transported to Silverymoon by Mordenkainen, where he briefed them on the issue at hand. He explained an ancient vessel had been discovered in the abyss, and that if the warring factions were to recover it, it could upset the balance of the blood war, and this would affect the other planes. The party then was sent to Pazunia, in the Abyss, where they fought their way past a Balor and several Armanites (who were told of their arrival by a spying faction agent). They then made their way to the River Styx, collecting some of the water with mage hand and flasks. The boat was ambushed by several Styx Dragons, which attempted to shift the boat. They defeated the creatures, and the boat headed through a planar portal to the Nine Hells, specifically to Stygia. They then crossed the frozen sea, encountering three tornadoes along the way. They found the ancient ship, encased in ice, and managed to clear it out (there were several other factions present, including a cultist of the Demon-lord Grazz’t and cultists of the Archdevil Geryon. They reactivated the vessel, and managed to take out another, smaller ship that trailed them using the on-board ballista and lightning cannons. They then headed through a planar portal to the Outlands, where they were beyond detection. Modrons, under Mordenkainen’s direction, disassembled the vessel into raw components.
