The Temptress
While traveling along the Trade Way, Horace and Ophelia D'Vespere were approached by a distraught woman saying her friend had been killed. She was distressed, bloodied and seemed thoroughly and genuinely panicked.
Her name was Dahlia and she led the adventurers to her now deceased friend. Dahlia told the adventurers she didn't see what happened, they were both away from each other when she heard a faint scream. She went to check on her friend and found her body attached on a tree, as if in a dancing position. She appeared to be scantily clad for her clothes had been cut and ripped. She was covered in blood from a gash on her neck.
Tucked in the body’s corset was a card facing down. Ophelia D'Vespere dismounted from her horse to examine the area around the body while Horace watched the area. Ophelia plucked the card out with a pair of tweezers and the card revealed to be a Tarokka Card, the Tempter. Ophelia D'Vespere noticed a look of recognition from seeing the card.
Ophelia D'Vespere asked Dahlia where she’s from, and after pressing her for a response, she told her she was a Vistani from Barovia.
Dahlia led the adventurers to her clan's encampment and they learned the clan had been on Toril for a few months. After discussion, the adventurers conclude the Vistani have nothing to do with what's going on in Liam's Hold and use a spell scroll of raise dead to bring her back to life. They also learned that another Vistani clan, that has now returned to Barovia, has one of their members killed as well, and they had also found a tarokka card on the body: the wizard. They do not have any clue as to who the killer would be, and if this is a coincidence or if there is a serial killer on the loose. Two things are clear though, the two victims were Vistani, and they both had Tarokka cards left on their bodies.
To thank the adventurers from resurrecting Alina, the victim, they promised that on one occasion, if they ever needed to, a group of members of the Hawthorne Guild could request that they bring them to Barovia.
