Alizayd al-Hayim

Alizayd hails from the distant land of Zakhara, in the free cities of the North, specifically Muluk, City of Kings. He never knew his father, outside of stories. His siblings come from a different father, named Murtaza al-Hayim, who hailed from the distant Southern lands. Murtaza passed when Alizayd’s sister was very young. Alizayd was born several years later, but the family rarely discussed the origin of his parentage. After a while, he stopped asking.

His mother is Safiya al-Janub, daughter of Kaveh al-Mustanir. She serves as the current calipha of Muluk. Alizayd is one of three siblings. His older brother is Kadir al-Hayim, Emir (heir to the throne). Kadir is impulsive and prone to overindulgence. His sister, Tahira al-Hayim, is a few years older than Alizayd, and is a thriving socialite in Muluk, as well as a cunning warrior. Alizayd has been raised to serve as his brother’s Qaid, but his devout teachings and wanderlust have driven him away from these lands. His sister is a Sha’ir, wielder of the magic of genies, and serves as sorcerer-general in the armies of Muluk.

He knows not if he possesses such talent with genie magic, but he has not had much luck as of yet. Alizayd spent much of his young life training in the Citadel, and has strong bonds with many of the soldiers there. He longs to one day return home, but he knows that things there must change. He views harshly the practices of slavery and the attacks on the poor that openly take place in the Kingdom and in neighboring lands. He does not know if leading such an opposition is his burden to bear, but he is becoming more and more willing with each passing day. In his journey North, he took passage by land and sea, hoping that his travels would teach him about his place and purpose in this world. He hides his royal identity whenever possible, not wishing to make the common people view him as anything other than as an equal. A few short weeks ago, he arrived in Faerun, on the Western shores of Calimshan.

Alizayd is a Genasi of Fire, though it is not apparent that he is anything other than human at first glance. He is a Devotion Paladin, serving the Pantheon of Zakhara, with his most intense focus on Unknown, Unknown , and Unknown. He seeks knowledge wherever he can find it, and searches for the name of his true father.
