After a horrific boating accident that ended in her parents' deaths when she was three, Ermenele Gudelmar and her brother and sister were raised in the Dancing Dolphins House by their distant cousin, Ingutrude Gudelmar. Now an adult, she is one of the three potential heirs to the most extravagant "open house" in the city. Ermenele is most like her distant relative Iylandra Gudelmar. Using her beauty and charisma, she found her way into the graces of The Council. She believes The Council and its strict laws to be what's best for Amn and Athkatla. She is also quite ambitious, and serves as their eyes and ears within the Dancing Dolphins House during large gatherings, in the hopes that her service to them will soon grant her a boost in status and a powerful spouse. Ingutrude does not know that she is in league with The Council, and Ermenele seeks to keep it that way until she is chosen as the heir to the family estate.
