Stephanie Harrington a 16 year old cheerleader. She is part of the popular kids and others would simply describe her as either one of the most popular girls in the school and look up to her or a massive bitch.
She is trying to make it as cheer captain this year. She is very talented and trained to be a cheerleader since she’s a kid. Her best friend Katie is always by her side. They are friends since middle school and she also attends the cheer team.
They've been through everything together during their high and lows, both of them are one of the most popular girls in school. Katie as well as everyone else doesn’t know about her interest in girls, though she might suspect something but was never proven right till now.
They spend most of their free time either practicing for upcoming games or competitions or hanging out with their clique at Brown Jenkins or the Drive In -> the popular (Jason & Caleb - both footballers, Stacey also a cheerleader) She hides her darkest secret under her mask.
Her “mean girl” persona is a weapon that keeps others at arm’s length, a shield so no one looks too closely and keep status under control and a performance she plays because she’s in too deep and people expect it from her. She’s terrified of losing control of her image, becoming a joke.
Her Status is always on the line. She is dating boys and going out with them to not let anyone suspect anything else. But she is distant and not too intimate with them (some kisses and holding hands for show if people are around). While everyone else is looking for a date for the next prom or party she is standing by the side and wondering when she gets to be seen like she wants to be. But she can't let it happen, because she's afraid people will see her as different, weird and a misfit.
Stephanie is usually seen in public either with Katie, the clique or with her cheer team. It’s rare that she is going somewhere alone.
