Right before arriving on Azeroth, the draenei were fleeing Draenor after its destruction at the hands of the Burning Legion and the corrupted orcs. Prophet Velen and his people escaped aboard the Exodar, a dimensional satellite vessel of Tempest Keep gifted by the naaru. Their intent was to find refuge and continue their struggle against the Legion. However, sabotage by the blood elves loyal to Kael’thas Sunstrider damaged the ship mid-flight, forcing it to crash through the Twisting Nether and land violently on Azeroth’s Azuremyst Isle.
After the crash, the draenei established the Exodar as both their capital and spiritual center on Azeroth. Though disoriented and weakened, they quickly allied with the native races of the Alliance, pledging their devotion to the Light and their commitment to fighting the Burning Legion wherever it appeared. This marked the draenei’s formal introduction to Azeroth’s peoples
