Blighted Wilds
Ghyran, the Realm of Life, was once a place of verdant beauty.
Plaguefather Nurgle - midden-king of maggot and fly - put paid to much of that. Long has the Dark God's gaze lain on the Jade Kingdoms, feeding his obsession with binding life and death in foul cycle of rot. There is no better realm on which to work his dark designs than here. The poisonous, corruptive tendrils of his influence have spread into every corner of Ghyran. The forests of Verdia fester; swamps of Quogmia shiver. And in Thyria, a domain of choking jungle, the rivers run with filth and tree boles belch plague.
Long has Nurgle been resisted. The fay Sylvaner fight ceaseless war against him. Those who were laid to rest in the land long ago have no desire to dance to his grotesque medleys. The folk of Sigmar fight too, building cities atop land painstakingly cleansed of contagion, guarding themselves with high walls and sharpened blades.
Their resistance has grown tiresome to the Lord of Plagues. Their stubbornness vexes him. There must, his faithful say, be punishment. All those churlish and ungrateful souls shall be shown their error, and none more so than the Everqueen Alarielle. Most pernicious of all Nurgle's foes, she has thwarted him time and time again in his conflicts. Upon the Lady of Leaves, the Plague God will visit a particular vengeance.
All across Ghyran, plans in plans were set in motions whose aim is singular. To once and for all lay low the foes of the Grandfather and through the poisoning of the land itself to slay the goddess herself. Maggotkin champions are aboard, afire with Nurgle's will. Their victory shall spell ruin to all, alive and the dead, order or chaos, all whose domain is not rot and ruin. Thus, heroes and villains alike rise to stem the tides, be it for goals noble or insidious.
Thus it is now, in these Blighted Wilds in but one of numberless many places, where an eternal conflict starts a new and from which only one can arise victorious.
And so the earth of Ghyran will soon become sodden and bloated with blood...
